Vylar Kaftan has published several dozen short stories in such places as Clarkesworld, Lightspeed, and COSMOS, as well as an Incan Empire alternate history novella in Asimov's. She was nominated for a Nebula Award in 2011 for her short story, "I'm Alive, I Love You, I'll See You in Reno".
